Does the patient present any of the following conditions?
Monitor venous thrombosis with serial Doppler ultrasound (repeat exam every 2–4 weeks to assess thrombus extension).
If there is NO progression in thrombus extension or worsening of symptoms, clinical observation is suggested only.
If there is progression of extension or symptoms, evaluate bleeding risk to initiate anticoagulation, or if high bleeding risk exists, consider a removable filter.
